Bears sign Bennett to 4-year extension

General manager Jerry Angelo promised the team would reward its own players. One of those players cashed in Friday.

The Bears have signed receiver Earl Bennett to a four-year contract extension, the team announced. Bennett is now under contract until 2015.

The deal is for $18 million, with half of that guaranteed. Bennett also got a $6 million signing bonus.

“I’m very excited,” Bennett said. “It said a lot about the organization and how much they care about us.”

Bennett, who missed five games with a serious upper body injury, has 18 receptions for 276 yards and a touchdown in six games. He started once.
